About this listing
Uber Stylish and fabulously private, this romantic turf roofed bolthole is your magical getaway on the Isle of Skye with jaw dropping views, ridiculously high eco credentials and an unrivalled private shoreside location overlooking the Sound of Sleat. Designed with couples in mind or perfectly suited for small parties, The Cabin is set in a truly stunning and private shoreside location with unparalleled panoramic views over Isle Ornsay’s natural harbour, the Sound of Sleat and the magnificent mountains of Kintail and Knoydart beyond.
You’ll find the split level open plan living area open up to a wall of glass that lets the outside in, with commanding views of the sea and mountains beyond. Custom-built Nordan doors retract to double the social space opening straight out onto the decking for sunlit filled rooms.
Free access to thousands of movies at the Cabin makes for great film night in on the large satellite TV. The modern Scandinavian wood-burning stove is great for cosy nights in when you want to cosy up in your star-filled Skye hideaway. Sounds are covered, there’s a CD/MP3 dock music centre and with free broadband WiFi hub you can choose to be as connected or switched off as you choose to be.
Arrive to a complimentary gift of locally produced soaps and candle with scents such as lemongrass, juniper and lavender to help you relax into your holiday. You can stretch out in the master bedroom with its own en-suite facility and wet room and there’s also a well-appointed twin bedroom and full sized bathroom with separate shower. The Cabin is the perfect place to relax, write or work and the picture perfect window is a beautifully peaceful and inspirational place to settle with a comfy leather bound armchair, desk and selection of books to read. The thoughtful addition of a boot room, complete with freezer and washer/dryer and all the necessary equipment to make your stay a breeze.
The Cabin is set in an acre of grounds which gently slope down to the shore surrounded by a mixture of mature native woodland, trees and flowering shrubs offering a wildly beautiful and private stay. From your elevated decking out front share your day with the wildlife – where you can watch otters breakfast at dawn, pine martins at play and a myriad of native birdlife. To uphold the natural sensitivity of this stunning local wildlife habitat for all, dogs are not permitted at The Cabin. Take an evening stroll to Camus Cross or the romantic Hotel Eilean Iarmain (Isle Ornsay) for à la carte dining. There’s also a friendly bar at the hotel where traditional music is part of the West Coast rhythm of life.
The Cabin is very accessible. Sleat is on the south coast of Skye affectionately known as “The Garden of Skye” where you can drive from the mainland across the famous bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh or catch the Calmac ferry from the fishing port of Mallaig to Armadale. Skye is all wooded coastline, rich farmland with stunning views of the sea and mountains.
Dotted along the old roads there are craft shops and galleries, crofters and craftsmen living and working in harmony with this life restoring landscape. Discover the legend and myths surrounding the waving of the Magic Fairy Flag held in Dunvegan Castle. Be enchanted with traditional fiddle tunes, small pipes, ceilidhs and song and as the salmon pink sunsets and indigo coloured rock pools merge with the rugged hills and seascape your truly seductive Scottish hideaway will soothe the mind, relax the body and restore the soul.
