Holiday cottages in the south of Scotland

The south west of Scotland is quieter than the Highlands, with a long coastline of sandy bays and cliffs, the Galloway Forest Park, gardens warmed by the Gulf Stream and some of the darkest skies in Britain. Most of our cottages here are in Dumfries and Galloway.

Where to stay

Around Gatehouse of Fleet and Carrick Shore, cottages sit beside sandy bays on Fleet Bay and the Solway Firth. In the far west, the Rhins of Galloway have estate cottages near Stranraer and Portpatrick, and sea views to Ireland from the Mull of Galloway. Inland, the Galloway Forest Park has walking, mountain biking and the UK's first Dark Sky Park.

Getting there

The M74 and A74(M) run between Glasgow and Carlisle, and the A75 crosses Dumfries and Galloway to Stranraer. Trains run to Dumfries, Lockerbie and Stranraer, and ferries sail from Cairnryan to Northern Ireland.
