Set in the beautiful remote village of Scarista on the Island of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, Owner managed and living on the family croft, we have two turf roofed, luxury self catering cottages, each with its own sauna and whirlpool bath, for the ideal Hebridean retreat. Our award-winning, isolated and secluded cottages are totally private yet only 10 minutes walk from an award winning restaurant and 20 minutes drive from shops and bars.
Overlooking Taransay, local beaches, mountains in the north of the island and an archipelago of islands in the Sound of Harris this is the ultimate place to enjoy a romantic and luxurious break. Enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean crashing onto some of its many beautiful beaches.
Our one bedroomed cottages are designed for couples looking for a 5 star luxury romantic break. Linen and towels are provided, and each cottage is equipped with bicycles, picnic backpacks, beach towels and a set of golf clubs.
The cottages have been built to provide category 3 assisted wheelchair access for residents. Smoking and pets are not allowed on the premises.
Living Room Area
A long curved bay window gives spectacular views of local beaches in Scarista, surrounding hills and across to the neighbouring island of Taransay. For comfort and enjoyment the under-floor heated stone flooring and solid fuel-burning stove situated in the main stonewall give a Hebridean warmth to your surroundings. We also provide Sky Smart TV and a DVD player.
Kitchen/Dining Area
Each cottage has a fully equipped open plan kitchen. In the kitchen you will find a Neff Combined Microwave /Oven & Grill, Neff single oven, Neff electric ceramic hob and a Bosch combined washer/drier. Full inventory will be sent prior to arrival.
Master Bedroom
Fitted with a super king size bed (uk size), this is a large spacious room furnished with Harris Tweed soft furnishings giving a luxurious feel.
The Harris Tweed used in the soft furnishings in the cottages has been woven by local Harris weaver Mr Donald John Mackay- MBE.
Donald John lives in Luskentyre and independently produces Harris Tweed, trading under the name “Luskentyre Harris Tweed Company”. Harris Tweed has been woven in the Mackay family for generations.
Office/Reading room
This room is furnished with a small sofa and desk. Each cottage has its own fibre broadband.
Bathroom
For those who enjoy being pampered, the newly refurbished bathroom includes a Duravit whirltub bath and sauna for two. Each sauna has a stunning view of the surrounding area. Locally produced Ishga toiletries are complimentary during your stay. Bath robes and slippers are provided.
Hebridean Complimentary Hamper
On arrival at your cottage you will receive a selection of local produce hand picked for your complimentary Hamper. In addition we offer a choice of Bollinger Champagne, Harris Gin or Wild Eve (non alcoholic). Other items include Stornoway black pudding, Salar Smoked Salmon, local chocolates/tablet and Kathleen Morrison’s home baked fruit loaf. Items may vary depending on availability and dietary requirements. Full details will be sent to you along with your booking form.
