About this listing
A luxurious, spacious detached four-bedroom family home decorated in a contemporary style. The property occupies an elevated position in a unique coastal setting, providing stunning views across the Inner Sound to the Cuillins, Skye and the Isle of Raasay.
Internally, accommodation comprises a large, spacious living room, open plan kitchen, a sunroom/ utility room and four double bedrooms – two of which are en suite.
The house sits in a generously sized plot and has an attractive mature garden which is well stocked with shrubs and trees and with ample parking.
Seawinds is an ideal ‘home away from home’ for up to six people.
Seawinds is a place to watch the constantly changing weather roll in across the Inner Sound from the Outer Hebrides and the Atlantic. Experience all four seasons in one day.
After showers, watch out for rainbows and pools of light in the water of the Inner Sound. In the evening, watch out for sunsets of all hues and colours over the contours of the Isle of Skye and enjoy the star-filled skies at night.
The heart of the house is an open plan living room with a large wood burning stove, a perfect area for cosy evenings or to stretch out with a morning coffee with the spectacular Cuillins as a backdrop.
The well-equipped kitchen opens directly onto the living room where there is a large dining table, ideal for family feasts and entertaining.
Seawinds is an ideal base to connect with nature and the elements. Enjoy the beautiful coastal and mountain landscapes. Go on the many local beach and coastal walks: visit the coral beaches, or walk on the high path from Applecross Bay to Sand beach.
Look for common seals on the small islands at Ard Dubh. Walk across Applecross Bay, watch out for abundant birdlife including oystercatchers, curlews and the white-tailed sea eagle. Take in a woodland walk around the grounds of Applecross House where you will see highland cows and stags.
On a clear night, take in the ‘dark sky’ above Seawinds with millions of stars visible – and if you’re very lucky you may see the Northern Lights.
Seawinds is ideally situated for access to the award-winning Applecross Inn for a leisurely lunch or evening meal. Or alternatively, take a walk around the Applecross Walled Garden and enjoy a meal or a coffee and a cake in the restaurant. Further afield, drive up the coast road to Shieldaig and Torridon. Book afternoon tea at the Torridon Hotel. Or visit the picturesque village of Plockton with its whitewashed cottages and palm trees set around a beautiful, wooded bay.
Climb from the summit of the Bealach na Ba to Sgurr a’ Chaorichain for spectacular views. For the experienced walker, climb or trek the many munros, corbetts and valley routes in the wider Wester Ross area.
Travel on the railway from Strathcarron to Kyle of Localsh, one of the most picturesque rail journeys in the UK. Or visit the Isle of Raasay and book a tour at the award-winning Raasay distillery or take a walk on Calum’s Road.
