About this listing
Focusing on traditional rather than trendy, we have been welcoming guests to our farm holiday cottages for more than 30 years. Delighting in meeting both new and returning guests.
The cottages are tucked away at the end of a little lane on our family farm, not far from the charming market town of Kelso, where a monthly Farmers Market is held in the town square.
Nestled between Hendersyde’s West and East Cottages is Southsyde, a charming farm cottage.
Spectacular views extend from Hume Castle and the Lammermuir Hills on the horizon, over the Tweed Valley to The Cheviot Hills in Northumberland National Park.
The kitchen, which is accessible through the cottage porch, has a ceramic hob, cooker, microwave, a refrigerator/freezer, and a washing machine. The cottage has always maintained Visit Scotland’s independent evaluations of 4-star quality.
In addition to a new boiler, installed this year, full central heating, double glazing, plenty of insulation, and an open fire, keep Southsyde cosy.
A power shower is located over the bath in the downstairs bathroom.
Upstairs two double bedrooms face north and south. The beds can be prepared as super-kings or twins.
The sheltered, south-facing garden is the perfect place to unwind and soak up some rays.
As you gaze over the field towards the Fox Covert wood, you may be lucky enough to hear the clatter of heron among the trees tops. See hares and Roe deer wandering between the woods. Walking by the waterside you might hear, or see, the splash of a salmon, catch a glimpse of otter, or watch a variety of birds as the River Tweed and Eden Water flow by the farm.
An area of largely undiscovered country lies between Edinburgh and Alnwick, each about an hour from Hendersyde. Enjoy the wide open spaces and undulating landscapes of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
Rivers, coasts, and hills are all part of your playground.
Take a tour of the great houses, castles, keeps and abbeys in the Borderlands.
From Kelso to St. Abbs, on the Berwickshire coast, to Peebles up the Tweed Valley, see the charming towns and villages that make up our area.
Explore the works of our numerous gifted designers, artists, and innovators. Tweed textiles, woodwork and distilleries, to name just a few!
Learn the best routes to walk, bike, mountain bike and horse ride.
Indulge in activities that are both stimulating and soothing. Participate in unique courses, go fishing, golfing, and learn new skills.
The outbuilding across from the rear entrance is a great place to keep your bicycles, fishing gear, and golf clubs.
