Tucked away in the idyllic coastal setting of Sandgreen near Gatehouse-of Fleet, Brackenrigg is a welcoming seaside cottage with sweeping views across Fleet Bay and a private path leading directly to a beautiful sandy beach. Surrounded by the unspoilt landscapes of Dumfries & Galloway, this spacious retreat is perfect for family holidays, quiet romantic escapes and memorable gatherings by the sea.

The bay is perfect for swimming, paddle-boarding, canoeing and dinghy sailing, and children will love building sandcastles and exploring the rock pools – fishing nets provided! Enjoy cycling or hiking along the quiet country roads and scenic coastal routes, or simply relax in the garden and fire up the BBQ ready for the spectacular sunsets.

Brackenrigg offers ample parking and space for boats, trailers etc, as well as secure bicycle storage. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor toys & games for all ages; plus books, DVDs and jigsaws for those cosy rainy days curled up by the log fire.
We are child and dog friendly.

From exploring the dramatic coastline, discovering the dark skies and walking trails of Galloway Forest Park to browsing the bookshops of Wigtown and the art galleries of Kirkcudbright, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Brackenrigg provides a wonderful tranquil base from which to experience one of Scotland’s most beautiful and unspoilt areas.

The property sleeps up to seven guests across three bedrooms plus a dedicated children’s room. The master bedroom benefits from its own en suite, while two further rooms are configured as twins. The children’s bedroom comes complete with a child’s bed and cot, making it a great fit for families with little ones in tow. In total, the cottage accommodates six adults and one child, with five full beds plus the child’s bed provided.

We’ve visited Brackenrigg a few times now and have always had the most wonderful time. The views are second to none. The house is spacious with everything you need, lots of games and films are provided, with a lovely log burner to while away slightly chillier evenings! Lots of nature, walking and bike rides on the doorstep, beautiful beaches and it just feels so wild and unspoilt. The perfect break away from ‘normal’ life!

Absolute heaven. Brackenrigg is a truly special place for a peaceful, beachy holiday. Perched just above the bay, the house has incredible views with a private path that leads directly down to one of the most beautiful beaches. The location is simply unbeatable! The house is spacious with a relaxed, rustic charm that feels like you’ve just walked in to a family’s beach house and the lawn at the front is something really special — the ultimate spot to sit back, watch the sea and those cracking sunsets. I discovered Brackenrigg a few years ago and have booked to come back every year ever since. I look forward to it all year!

“I cannot recommend this beautiful cottage enough. The area itself is just stunning! Whether you’re sat in the living room, or washing the dishes after a lovely home cooked meal, you can look out onto the most majestic view of the tide rolling in and the scottish hills in the distance. It’s the type of place that feels like home from home whilst reminding me of my own childhood of visiting family in Scotland. You can walk down to the beach straight from the garden which is such a gorgeous bonus, especially with children! There’s enough room for two families to stay comfortably in this cottage (which is what we did on our stay). We went for an amazing walk along the coast from the house and met lovely people along the way. Its such a friendly area of Scotland! Brackenrigg Cottage truly is a very special and magical place to stay. I adore the whole whimsical vibe of the cottage! Its refreshing to stay somewhere that has kept so much heart of what a cottage should feel and look like. We are definitely coming back next year and I cant wait!
