About this listing
A stylish bolthole deliciously tucked in 20 acres of garden woodland, adjacent to Corsewall Estate House bursting with native and exotic trees – here deer run wild, red squirrels and hedgehogs play and little guests can have Enid Blyton adventures while grown ups relax in style.
Garden Cottage
Adults will love escaping to this gorgeous three-bedroomed, luxury self-catering cottage which comfortably accommodates six guests. The living area downstairs is open plan with a stylish kitchen including a Belfast sink and large dining table. The spacious sitting room, furnished with comfy armchairs and sofas is south facing and overlooks the extensive estate gardens. There is a double bedroom (which can be configured as a twin on request) on the ground floor with en suite bathroom, in addition to a shower room & WC and a utility room. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with an en suite shower room and a twin bedroom with an en suite bathroom.
Gorgeous Surroundings
Located in over 20 acres of gardens and woodland adjacent to Corsewall House, there are lots of wonderful woodland walks and coastal paths around the estate for guests to enjoy. In late January and February, the woods feature charming drifts of snowdrops followed by daffodils and in April and May the hue turns to purple with acres of bluebells. There is colour in the gardens almost all the way through the year starting with camellia from January to March, followed by a riot of colour in April and May as the rhododendrons and azaleas come into flower. The autumn sees the hydrangeas providing colour all the way through to November. There is oodles of wildlife to spot – from roe deer and hares to barn owls, woodpeckers and most importantly, this area is one of the last bastions of the red squirrel.
Swallows and Amazons style adventures
There are lots of things to keep children and little ones busy on the estate. The woods immediately beside the lawns close to Garden Cottage are a dedicated children’s fun zone with 60 foot zip wire, which has been well tested by children (and some adults) alike. Next door, there’s also a climbing frame, which comes complete with a climbing wall, lookout house with binoculars to spot pirates/baddies, a very whizzy slide, three swings, including one for toddlers and a terrific back to back glider. Additionally, kids can bounce to their heart’s content on the 14 foot trampoline on the edge of the lawns. There’s a camp fire area in the woods – perfect for toasting marshmallows. For smaller children, there’s a wendy house with a toy cooker and lots of picnic/cooking paraphernalia and a pretty veranda.
Corsewall Estate has three pretty beaches on Loch Ryan for Garden Cottage guests to enjoy: Boat Bank, Lady Bay and Port Beg. A pretty walk down one of the drives will take you to Boat Bank, which is the nearest one to Garden Cottage. Boat Bank is a wonderful spot if you like collecting shells or pebbles, while Lady Bay is a sandy beach which is great for paddle boarding and swimming. Bird watching down on the shores of Loch Ryan or in the woods is second to none. Port Beg is a pretty bay, pebbly down to the waterline and then sandy in the sea – ideal for paddling and swimming.
