Self-catering in North East Scotland

The North East is castle country: Royal Deeside, the edge of the Cairngorms, a long coastline of cliffs and sandy bays, and Aberdeen at its heart. It's quieter than the west, with plenty of space and some of Scotland's driest weather.

Angus has quiet estate cottages near Montrose, between the beaches and the Cairngorms. In Aberdeen, you can stay in the old fishing village of Footdee, a short walk from the beach.

Getting there

Aberdeen Airport has flights from across the UK and Europe. Trains run up the coast to Montrose, Stonehaven and Aberdeen, and the A93 follows the River Dee through Royal Deeside.
