About this listing

Stunning wilderness lodge

This jaw-dropping timber lodge in one of Europe’s last great unspoiled wildernesses has all the bells and whistles with a backdrop and location to wow.

Outdoor hot tub with mood lighting, infrared sauna, and stunning views over Loch Inver and the Assynt mountains on the North 500 route.

Perched on a Lochinver hillside, looking over to the Assynt mountain range, Waterloo Lodge offers precious time out without compromise. This luxury self-catering retreat lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Crafted to envelop you in comfort and relaxation. The floor-to-ceiling height glass windows take you closer to nature than you could possibly dream of.

Throw in those to-die-for West Coast sunsets where you can move effortlessly from the hot tub overlooking the loch to the BBQ sundeck, the balcony, and the living room with its open-plan layout and vast kitchen for serious foodies with all the gizmos and gadgets to hand, including a 60″ Smart TV and Nespresso Coffee machine.

Wildlife abounds

Sharing your surroundings with the locals and their habitat is an effortless task during your stay, watching seals, red deer, otters, leaping salmon, brown trout, and even golden eagles and many other species of bird life. The Lochinver area is home to a huge variety of interesting flora and fauna including black-throated loons, greenshanks, puffins, Arctic skuas, ptarmigan, golden plovers and golden eagle, mountain hares, pine martens, otters and red deer, grey seals, porpoises, dolphins, minke and killer whales, rare helleborines, yellow mountain saxifrage, viviparous bistort, and mountain avens.

From its hillside setting, the Lodge looks down onto the quiet fishing village of Lochinver, across the clear waters of the loch to the mountains of Assynt. Keen kayakers can get out on the river, loch, or sea with Norwest Sea Kayaking, based in Lochinver, for half-day and day trips to the Achiltibuie-Summer Isles, Ullapool, and Lochinver area.

Returning to Waterloo Lodge is the quickest way to relax. Warm underfoot padding across underfloor heating, sliding open the large French doors, you can have breakfast on the sundeck or take a nightcap under the “big dipper, ” if you choose. There’s nothing better than a real log fire and good company for a cosy night in after a brisk walk on the hills.

Your luxury accommodation with spectacular views

It goes without saying, and as you’d expect from this stunning property, all bedrooms are en suite. The master bedroom balcony offers a spectacular morning rise with your morning latte. It has a super-king-size bed, walk-in wardrobe, en-suite bathroom, and large balcony with panoramic folding doors. The bathroom comes complete with both a bath and a large waterfall shower.

The room’s furniture is high-quality Oak. It includes a dressing table and mirror, bedside tables with designer reading lamps, and a full-length vanity mirror. There is also a hairdryer and a large smart TV.

The Queen Room features an en-suite and walk-in wardrobe with high-quality oak bedroom furniture, designer reading lamps, a mango wood full-length mirror, and a hairdryer, while the twin bedroom has an en-suite, walk-in wardrobe, high-quality oak furnishings, mirror, designer reading lamps, and a hairdryer.

Munro baggers and low-level walkers can lace up their boots and hit the hills first light with maintained trails and nearby Culag wood for four-legged friends to stretch their legs. Beach lovers can enthuse over deserted, white sandy beaches edged by grassy dunes and clear turquoise sea at Clachtoll, Clashnessie, and Stoer.

“Only a WOW!…not to say many words – if you look for a perfect accommodation in a perfect place with a `WOW – factor` – with this Lodge, you`ve got it.”

“A relaxing and amazing place to stay – We love it here; we’ve been 3 times and will be back again. It is such a beautiful place inside and out, and the scenery is to die for. ”

“A magical Christmas at Waterloo Lodge – We have just spent a truly magical week over Christmas at Waterloo Lodge (family of 5 with 3 teenagers). The lodge is so well equipped and had everything we needed to make Christmas special – including cooking dinner! There is lots of space and even with all our luggage, food/drinks and Christmas presents the lodge never looked cluttered which was wonderful for us! The lodge is beautiful and has a feel of luxury and we loved the hot tub and sauna which made us feel well pampered too! Sitting in the hot tub sipping a glass of fizz and looking at the amazing view was fantastic.

We arrived after a long journey to find a beautiful Christmas tree and lights all ready so thank you to the owners for that! You really have thought of everything to ensure we had a wonderful holiday. We also loved the area and the view from the lodge is amazing. We went to Ullapool for a day for lunch and also for the Tesco and then after that, the Spar in Lochinver was great for everything else and the return journey from Ullapool was the most amazing scenery we have ever seen – such a beautiful part of the world. We went to Alchmelvich beach on Boxing Day which is truly beautiful with white sand and blue water – must be a beautiful place to visit in Summer too. If you like walking then this is a great place for that too. We also visited the Lochinver Larder which was closed over Christmas but opened on 27th which was just about the right time as we needed a change from Xmas dinner by then and also to sample their famous pies!

There are a couple of other restaurants in Lochinver and the Wayfarers bar which were all open. There is some information to read on the bookshelf which was really useful too – it was great to read about the history of the Waterloo lodge! My advice if you are thinking of booking would be to book! I fail to see how anyone cannot love this place. All in all, we were one very happy family – we were really sad to leave, and thank you for such a wonderful Christmas!”
