About this listing

When you stay at Coachman’s Quarters, you are only a few steps away from adventure, Located on the Sleat Peninsula, this quiet cottage is the perfect base to explore everything that the Isle of Skye has to offer. Coachman’s Quarters can sleep up to four guests and provides everything needed for a wonderful stay. This cottage is within easy reach of trails that will help you understand why the ancient Norse called Skye the “Isle of Mists”. The ever-shifting mist and ever-changing light mean that you will never see the same view twice.

Situated at a peaceful cul-de-sac in Torabhaig Gleinn, Coachman’s Quarters features a well-stocked kitchen and spacious living space decorated in a refreshing contemporary style. In the kitchen, you will find an electric induction hob, oven, microwave, toaster, and fridge with freezer. For a blissful morning coffee, try using the cafetière. Designed to bring your party together, this cottage includes an open floor plan and eat-in kitchen. A smart television and Wi-Fi throughout the property will help your party unwind while staying connected. From the cozy couches in the living space, you can enjoy the tranquil view out the glass sliding doors. Step outside the sliding glass doors to relax on a private patio. In the evening, you can slow down to witness the house martins swoop home to their nests and enjoy the secluded glen.

Perfect for a rejuvenating retreat, the two bedrooms at Coachman’s Quarters offer plenty of space to spread out during your vacation. One bedroom has a king-sized bed while the other includes a double-sized bed. Both feature seating, full-length mirrors, hairdryers, and USB outlets. For plenty of clothes storage during your stay, each bedroom also includes a wardrobe and chest of drawers. If, during your adventures, your clothes get soiled, a washer is available for use in the living space. In good weather, you can even try drying your clothes outside with the outdoor clothes airer.

While perfect as a quiet retreat indoors, the true allure of Coachman’s Quarters is how accessible it is to the rugged natural beauty of the “Garden of Skye.” You are only a five-minute walk from the coast and within easy reach of some of the most unforgettable views Scotland has to offer. Next-door is a former country mansion of Clan McDonald, which now serves as the Toravaig House Hotel. Because Coachman’s Quarters is actually built on the foundation of the former coachman’s quarters, you can step into history.

If you do not feel like cooking on your holiday, there are plenty of nearby culinary options. Try the award-winning sophisticated fare for lunch or dinner at Toravaig House Hotel. Only 2.5 miles away is An Crùbh Cafe, a local cafe, a much loved local cafe with outdoor playground and general store. There are a number of nearby inns, restaurants, and pubs many of which serve delicious Hebridean fare cooked with local produce whilst also offering vegetarian and vegan options.

After a seven-minute walk, you can tour Torabhaig Distillery, which is only the second distillery on the Isle of Skye. Surrounded by stunning scenery, you can sample some of Skye’s finest Scotch single malt whisky. A little (but not much) further afield, you can explore the ruined Knock Castle, the oldest part of which dates back to 1400 A.D. Visit nearby Armadale Castle, Gardens, & Museum of the Isles for a taste of Scottish history and 40 acres of picturesque gardens.

If you fancy wild swimming, you can take a dip in Knock Bay while taking in views of the Knoydart Mountains. To take in the breathtaking Skye coast from the water, you can charter full or half-day kayak adventures through South Skye Sea Kayaks. These are tailored for any kayak experience level and can include visits to remote beaches. Depending on your level of fitness, embark on an extraordinary cycling or electric bicycle adventure on the Ord – Tokavaig loop. For a hike with unforgettable views, an old drover’s path through the abandoned township of Leitir Fura is a five-mile (8 kilometer) loop.

After a long day enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, you can return to Coachman’s Quarters for a relaxing evening. Because the cottage is heated electrically, you do not have to mess about with making a fire. The bathroom features a power shower with continuous hot water as well as a heated towel rack. From there, you can plan the next day’s expedition in the comfortable living space. Only eight minutes drive from the Armadale ferry and less than thirty minutes from Skye Bridge, Coachman’s Quarters is an ideal home away from home to build memories that will last a lifetime.
