About this listing
Gardeners Cottage; a pet friendly holiday cottage in the Highlands, sleeps six people amidst wildlife-packed woodland just a couple of miles from Aviemore. Turn off the A9 onto the singletrack road that leads to this recently renovated lodge, and you’re immediately embraced by the surrounding natural landscape.
You enter through a spacious utility with plenty of room to dry your damp and dirty gear. Next up is the kitchen with its Smeg range cooker, six-seater dining table and boiling water tap for quick cuppas for all. Need dinner fast? Use the air fryer. Got time to prep in advance? There’s a slow cooker too. The adjoining living room has a huge comfy sofa, a woodburner and enough puzzles, games and toys to keep the little people in your group happy for at least a week. When it comes to divvying up the bedrooms and bathrooms, there are only winners in this lodge. All the bedrooms have king size beds, one with a zip and link system so it can be made into two singles. There are two ensuites (one with a vast freestanding egg bath) and a third family bathroom, all pristine. Now to the outside, and the enclosed garden that wraps around the entire property.
The morning sun shines in exactly the right place for an alfresco breakfast, then you can enjoy its warmth in the rear garden as the Allt-na-Criche burn burbles past on its way to the River Spey. There’s a store out here for any outdoor equipment you’ve brought with you. Being only 2.5 miles from the centre of Aviemore, Gardeners Cottage; this pet friendly holiday cottage in the Highlands offers all the amenities and attractions that the Cairngorms National Park is so well known for. However, you can easily spend a few relaxed days here without getting in the car. Cyclists will be unable to resist the challenge of the infamous Burma Road, which passes the lodge’s front door. You can wander in an hour-long loop up the side of the Allt-na-Criche burn and back down behind the outdoor centre, stopping in at Kinrara Distillery for a guided gin tasting. From there, it’s a five-minute stroll back up the road to Gardeners Cottage. Or 30 minutes on foot takes you to the shores of Loch Alvie, the ideal place for a picnic – and a wild swim if you’re feeling brave. If you’re looking for a stylish, tranquil spot from which to dip in and out of everything the Scottish Highlands has to offer, this is the lodge for you.
