Its super comfy oversized bed with feather-free bedding and the finest linens welcomes tired legs after a long day. The beautiful oak bench seating beckons for breakfast and ceramics by local artist Mudness Ceramics provide a beautiful finishing touch.
Located behind the excellent village shop, this spot lends itself well to sourcing curated food provisions or even getting your breakfast warm straight from the shop oven. The well equipped kitchen gives you the freedom to cook whatever you like during your stay.
Durness lies in the heart of Mackay Country, packed full of natural wonders. Surrounded by spectacular mountains, a rugged coastline and stunning unpolluted beaches makes for a perfect escape. Prepare for the memorable sight of leaping dolphins or graceful whales, which frequent local bays daily during the summer months. Share the sad weary gaze of resting seals as you explore the magnificent landscape.
For the more adventurous, some of the most enjoyable hill walking in Britain can be found in the Sutherland area. Unlike some of the more popular hills these are remote, quiet hills where you are less likely to meet another living soul. The ridge of hills and mountains stretching South begin in Durness and they include the magnificent Foinhaven and Arkle, and to the east, Ben Loyal and the most northerly Munro Ben Hope.
You could even make some memories playing at the most Northerly golf course in mainland Europe.

- Please note - Not suitable for children as it is a very small space intended for couples only. Maximum two dogs, £15 cleaning charge per dog. The Bothan will be available for check-in from 4:00pm. Check-out is by 10am. Please let us know in advance if you plan to check-in after 8:00pm so we can organise everything for you. Smoking is completely prohibited in and around the property. If guests insist on smoking, please do so responsibly and dispose of all evidence. There will be a £150.00 additional cleaning charge if the house smells of smoke or any evidence is found. Please report any damages or breakages during your stay promptly. You may be required to pay for any damaged or losses in full at the discretion of the Owner. Mackay's reserve the right to refuse any booking prior to confirmation in writing. We also reserve the right to remove any person from the property due to unreasonable behaviors', damage or exceeding occupancy.
