Flagship property Backaskaill is a characterful, B-listed Farmhouse which provides heritage deluxe accommodation for up to six on the edge of the iconic mile-long silver sands of Backaskaill Bay. The sumptuous farmhouse features interiors and original artifacts which tell the story of the farm and island over centuries. Guests can completely switch off, enjoying coastal walks and cosy nights by the fire.
On the ground floor a large and charming kitchen/dining room includes an aga and a gas range for the less adventurous, a utility/WC/shower room, and a master suite. A stunning, unique hallway and staircase lead to the first floor. The spacious living room has panoramic views across the bay and a multi-fuel stove for cosy evenings. There are two further themed bedrooms and a bathroom. The enclosed garden features outdoor dining and a summerhouse.
Our trademark at Orkney Retreats is outstanding hospitality – the house contains all you could possibly want for a luxurious stay. We provide locally sourced essentials on arrival and make sure we welcome you with fresh coffee & home baking. We’re happy to collect your groceries order and put it in the pantry for you. Alternatively, you may wish to try one of our local restaurants or our in-house chef.
