Our two hebridean hideaways are situated on the largest island in Scotland, the Isle of Lewis and Harris amongst the Outer Hebrides with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters.

The shimmering turquoise hues and crystal clarity of the Hebridean waters are carribean-esqe in nature. Topped with golden sandy beaches, carpets of wildflowers in Summer and the possible glimpse of the Aurora in the winter months makes Blue Reef Cottages a year round honeymoon destination. Blending beautifully with the landscape and peeking out from beneath their turf roofs, tucked peacefully into the hillside two cottages await you. You can be as indulgent and hidden away in each others company as you choose or head into the wonderfully wild Machair with wildflowers, hike heather topped hills or stroll deserted beaches for some special and uninterrupted time together.

These two award-winning cottages Taigh Iain and Taigh Sheumais are set on the tranquil Isle of Harris, 10 minutes walk from the village of Scarista. Wake up to jaw-dropping views over beaches, Scarista, North Harris, Taransay, Isle of Uist and the wild Atlantic Ocean beyond. Each property enjoys a spectacular observation area with long curved bay windows designed by award winning architect Stuart Bagshaw.  Pad across warm stone floors courtesy of under-floor heating and curl up beside solid fuel-burning stoves situated in the main stonewall. There's built-in entertainment with Sky TV, a DVD player, Bose music centre and iPod docking station. Both cottages each have superbly equipped open plan kitchens adjacent to the dining area, making maximum use of the stunning Hebridean light and night skies. Harris Tweed soft furnishings throughout, give a luxurious feel and have been woven by local Harris weaver Mr Donald John Mackay- MBE. Harris Tweed has been woven in the Mackay family for generations and is available to purchase on the island. The large master bedrooms in each cottage are fitted with super-king-size beds and special touches include luxury Blue Reef monogrammed robes and there are slippers for guests use during their stay.

Situated off the master bedroom there is a spacious study room, furnished with a desk and broadband Internet connected computer, incorporating Wi-Fi and Skype for guests use. For those who enjoy being pampered, the bathroom includes a Jacuzzi bath and sauna for two with stunning views of the "machair" surrounding the cottage. To compliment the environmental and sustainable ethos that Blue Reef embraces 100% organic luxury island toiletries are sourced from local producer Ishga. The name Ishga is derived from the Gaelic word for water and the ingredients used in their products derive from Freshly hand-harvested Hebridean seaweed. Both cottages have been built to provide category 3 assisted wheelchair access for residents.

Lewis Longhouse

An architect-designed Lewis retreat that's set in a wildly beautiful location, close to the beach in an area of peaceful, natural beauty on the east coast of Lewis - cosy up by the woodburner, stargaze or stroll vast stretches of beach together.

This Green Tourism Gold Award property the Longhouse, is an architect-designed build situated on the family croft, only 50 metres from the beach with jaw dropping views across the bay. This contemporary stone and larch-clad home has a wrap around decking area where you can relax under a twinkling Hebridean sky or breakfast alfresco to the relaxation surround sound of nature on your doorstep and the hypnotic sound of the waves. Superbly stylish, double height living area, imaginative interiors polished, perfect, and flooded with light. The south-facing bedrooms have beautiful touches - modern chandeliers, Harris tweed throws - and from the bath you look up and see the sky. Bedrooms, bathrooms and living space are delightfully airy and open plan with oodles of room for the whole family to enjoy.

Under floor heating keeps oak floors warm underfoot, a multi-fuel stove keeps you cosy even in the wildest weather, and the house is equipped with broadband and Wi-Fi as well as LCD smart TV and music systems. Downstairs there are two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master-suite has a Super King-size bed and a wet-room style en-suite shower room for maximum luxury. The 2nd bedroom can be Super King-size or twin. The kitchen has all the equipment and gizmos you'll need from dishwasher to wine-chiller with careful attention at every turn. Even the kitchen worktop was made by local craftsmen out of beech trees felled by winter storms in Lews Castle grounds.

Upstairs, there's a cute mezzanine comprising of a seating area with balcony views and office space with computer in situ, perfect for a bit of chill time.  Skandi influences in the décor include beautifully peaceful colourways in keeping with the natural landscape outside, with sliding glass doors taking the outside in. Equipped with energy-conscious technology throughout, this stunning, low-impact building, EPC-AA rated,  has won awards for its modern take on traditional Lewis houses, and is the perfect eco-luxury solution stay for either families or couples heading to the Hebrides.
