About this listing

Enjoy shoreline views, breakfast with otters and relax in Scotland’s last true wilderness at Westfield; a stunning property with elegant furnishings, oak floors, handmade staircase and cathedral-style windows that set the scene for this escape from city life on the remote and stunningly beautiful Knoydart peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland.

Wake up to stunning shoreline views

Set amongst spectacular scenery on the shore of Loch Nevis, at the western end of Inverie Bay and just over 1 mile from Inverie village, your holiday home awaits you. With stunning views and untouched mountainous landscape, the setting provides unique, secluded and tranquil surroundings with a private garden.  Sleeping 8 guests in 4 well-appointed rooms, this idyllic loch-side location is the perfect background for a property which has been designed to take full advantage of its position. The accommodation comprises a utility area, shower room, semi open-plan breakfasting kitchen, lounge (with vaulted ceiling, cathedral windows and wood burning stove), dining area and two double bedrooms, all on the ground floor. The upper level (with mezzanine landing overlooking the lounge) has two double bedrooms and a shower room. Decorated and furnished to a high specification, this superb property boasts a bespoke oak staircase, solid oak internal doors and flooring, a cathedral window, mezzanine level, feature stove, modern kitchen with appliances and shower rooms, as well as oil-fired under-floor heating to the ground level.

Your surrounds

The wildlife never ceases to amaze guests, where it is not uncommon to observe otters breakfasting, pine martens and badgers, as well as roe deer and red deer on the hill.  Deer stalking is provided by a professional deer-stalker on the Knoydart Estate; the stalking runs from mid September for stags, and mid November for hinds.  Full deer-stalking packages are also available from neighbouring Kilchoan Estate or the Knoydart Foundation. With two bicycles provided with the property and more available for hire from the local ranger, you can hit the bike tracks in the woods maintained by the Knoydart Forest Trust or take a cycle over to Airor which at one time used to be one of the business settlements on Knoydart before the clearances took their toll on the community.

The Knoydart Peninsula is well known for some of the best hill walking routes in the West Highlands including many corbetts, tarbets and of course the three celebrated munros; Luinne Bheinn, Meall Buidhe and Ladhar Bheinn (the most westerly munro in Scotland).  Book a private guided walk with the local ranger or try a spot of fishing on the nearby River Inverie and Kilchoan Estate (booking essential).  Sea fishing is very good in Knoydart and even mackerel fishing from the village pier is a great way to relax while on holiday. Salmon, brown trout and sea trout can all be caught locally.

Ceilidh and traditional music nights

The village hall plays host to ceilidh nights and impromptu gatherings, with local traditional folk musicians playing for dances where everyone is encouraged to join in; children, guests and locals alike. Burns night and Hogmanay are celebrated widely and there is a programme of events that runs all year in the hall with a licenced bar run by volunteers in the community. You’ll need your dancing shoes on for the infamous Orcadian strip the willow that spills out of the doors and onto the street at times. As well as being the perfect setting for weddings, we can also cater for all other special occasions such as retirements, anniversaries and birthday parties.

This new property to the holiday market offers true privacy, tranquillity and a great family holiday home for those seeking adventures on the West Coast in style. As well as providing an ideal retreat to get-away-from-it-all, Knoydart offers an array of activities such Munro bagging with three Munros on its doorstep, bike trails, sea angling, kayaking, diving and boat trips, with the prospect of spotting dolphins and seals, Minke whales, orcas, otters and eagles and also boasts it’s own Ranger who leads walks for all levels. Perfect for family gatherings, friends get-togethers and last munro celebrations.
