A couples rustic retreat
Delectably warm for those intrepid winter visitors, the Cabin features a wood fired stove for ambience, and underfloor heating for generous warmth and comfort. There are two bedrooms, but we think its perfect for a couple; the double bedroom offers a quiet sanctuary should you wish to escape to a more intimate space, a handmade king-sized feather topped bed and a twin room is perfect for children or friends. The finest French linens are used throughout each room and can easily be made up as feather free if required. The Cabin also has an oversized shower and bespoke fixtures and fittings not forgetting an ample supply of indulgent bath linens. Industrial style lighting for you to adapt to suit your mood. The kitchen is a hand built, gorgeous mix of copper and inky back surfaces. The owners are dedicated foodies and have provided you with the tools to cook up a storm, an easy to use oven and oversized fridge…and for those who don’t want to wash up on holiday we have a slimline dishwasher. For dining, a raised butchers block with tall chairs in the open plan kitchen area flows to the lounge, comfy settees and seating, perfect for watching movies, socialising or curling up with a good book. Or take it outside and watch village life unfold on our generous covered deck. There is also a washing machine on hand in the Cabin’s store outside for guests use.

Reviews:
“The cottage was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend!”
“We found this place at short notice and we were lucky it was still available. The Cabin is a not so small house that fits max. 4, we were two, so even more space for us. It is beautifully furnished and Fiona (the owner) has a great feel for design and the combination of old and new things with a penchant for fancy items (e.g. lamps, switches, mountings in the bathroom…). The kitchen is well equipped, the living room area is cosy with an extra fire place, beds are comfortable (I really loved the “closet” in the main bedroom). To be honest, we didn’t know what to expect from a place “at the end of the world” but it turned out to be the best part of the whole journey. The nearby beaches are beautiful, the water is turquoise and crystal clear, Smoo Cave is a must and you can walk for miles over green hills counting the countless sheep (with their babies!). Everyone was very friendly and helpful (especially Paco, the lovely guy from Spain!) and we’d love to come back some day.”
“I initially wanted to get away from the city, all the everyday tech and to see the night sky without any light pollution.
That all happened but I wasn’t expecting to have a great night sleep. The highlight of my trip wasn’t just how beautiful and relaxing Durness was. But since my first night there I’ve been dreaming every night since.
That might not seem important, but to me that was a bonus take away.”
