About this listing

Stargaze through the dome ceiling window from the comfort of your bed and relax in your own private wood fired hot tub while sipping a glass of bubbly – the perfect escape on the Isle of Skye, overlooking the sparkling shores of Loch Snizort.

In the heart of a small working croft

Your Deluxe Rotunda is based seven miles from the main town of Portree on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Situated on a small working croft on the banks of Loch Snizort, there are three luxury cabins which looks east onto the back of the Old Man of Storr and looks south onto the Cuillin Mountain range. Skye Cabins offers a relaxing, peaceful and tranquil stay in a stunning central location, where the natural playground of Skye and all its attractions are within easy reach.

Your luxury rotunda

Finnish in design and made to withstand the Highland climate, your compact and deliciously comfortable rotunda makes for the quickest holiday relax. Fully equipped with a bespoke kitchen, en-suite bathroom and exclusive furnishings throughout. There’s a luxurious king-size bed where you can even stargaze through the dome ceiling window above, as you drift gently off to sleep.  There’s a fabulous natural playground on your doorstep to explore if you can tear yourself away from the wood fired hot tub with a canopy covered balcony out the front. Watch the sunset over the sparking waters or if you’re lucky you may even catch a glimpse of the aurora (Northern Lights) making a spectacular show in the winter. There is a seating area outside to enjoy breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine before dinner. The owners also have two other properties, both Finnish Lodges featured separately on Best Scottish Cottages as well as a mini apartment each sleeping 2. All four properties can be booked together for parties of up to 8 in total, upon request.

Your natural playground

The Isle of Skye has plenty to offer, whether you seek relaxation and together time or want to immerse yourself in the vibrant landscape, beautiful Gaelic culture and history of the island. There is direct access to Loch Snizort 200 metres from the cabins. You can enjoy all things water related from sailing on the loch to wild Atlantic salmon fishing on River Snizort. Various wildlife can be seen close by with sea eagles, heron and buzzards commonly circling the skies. Red deer, Scottish blackface sheep and Highland cattle are also common in the village. Eilean Chaluim Chille or Saint Columba’s Isle is found in Snizort river and can be reached by a wooden bridge. This was the Nicholson Clan graveyard for nine centuries and the ancient headstones can still be seen. The ruined chapel was also once the most important religious site in the islands from 1079 until 1498.

Possibly the most iconic of sites on the Isle of Skye and one of the most photographed views in Europe is The Old Man of Storr. Make time for a stop off at the Quiraing and seek out the “table” hidden in the middle of the Quiraing along the Trotternish ridge. Lose yourself in Celtic mythical folklore and visit the Faerie Glen, the most supernatural gem of Skye where the cone shaped hills of the magical Faerie Glen are scattered. Stop off at the instagrammable Fairy Pools on the road to Glenbrittle, at the base of the Cuillins, where the crystal clear waters and smooth polished walls of the Fairy Pools are a perfect spot for some wild swimming.

Walkers and climbers will love the challenge of the Cuillin Mountains, diverse and varied with both the black cuillin ridge and red cuillin mountains to explore. Steep yourself in the history of the misty isle and take in the iconic Dunvegan Castle where you can enjoy the 800 year old grand home of the Clan MacLeod with its beautifully maintained castle gardens for visitors to wander through. Book a boat trip on the water where the wildlife and sealife will astound. Look out for dolphins, porpoises, sea eagles, otters, seals and stags or venture further to the remote and hauntingly beautiful island of St Kilda for a full day’s adventure on the sea.

Skye Cabins offers guests the opportunity to experience the magic of Skye in superb style without compromise and memories to last a lifetime.

“Everything was thought of and an extra of a mini hamper. Beautiful location and like a little hobbit house!”

“The property is in a stunning location, with lots to do in the area. The owners made us feel very welcome, were really helpful and cheerful, and they even gave us a little welcome hamper which was hugely appreciated. The cabin is really cosy but still feels luxurious. It has everything you need and more. Beautiful views of the hills and loch and were treated to a particularly amazing sunrise on our last day.”

“Very unique property that you will not find anywhere else in vicinity. Able to walk down hill to loch. View was wonderful and waking up to several sheep outside window was fun. Hosts were great. This ranks as one of the most memorable places we stayed in for 2 nights during a 2-week self drive trip. Good location on Isle
