About this listing

This one bed-roomed cottage is cosy and comfortable and graded at 4-star, it’s perfect for romantic getaways, exploring Orkney’s hidden gems or simply relaxing with stunning views over Harray loch.

Peedie Harrays is an extremely comfortable old farm cottage. It is central to the West Mainland of Orkney, with stunning views over Harray Loch. It’s in a very rural location, but close to many of our archeological sites and beaches.

The cottage consists of one double bedroom 2 bathrooms, a large outdoor area perfect for enjoying sensational sunsets. For the writers this is a perfect retreat to get away and relax whilst jotting down those important words, in an inspirational setting.

The Orkney isles will provide you with plenty of touristic options to check out during your stay at Peedie Harrays.

The Bay of Skaill is nearby below the ancient Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae. Skaill beach is a large stretch of sand, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Bay of Skaill provides a sensation of being on the edge of the world.

Skara Brae is a historic village. Skara Brae was a prosperous hamlet long before Stonehenge or even the Egyptian pyramids were created. Explore the best-preserved Neolithic village in Western Europe, dating back 5,000 years.

One of the joys of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site is the wealth of archaeological sites very close to each other. The Ness of Brodgar Excavation site is a fantastic opportunity to get a guided tour of a Neolithic settlement, where you can donate to keep the archeologists digging and discovering.

Ring of Brodgar (or Brogar, or Ring o’ Brodgar) is a Neolithic henge and stone circle about 6 miles north-east of Stromness. It is the only major henge and stone circle in Britain which is an almost perfect circle. Most henges do not contain stone circles; Brodgar is a striking exception, ranking with Avebury and Stonehenge among the greatest of such sites.

From the Ness of Brodgar dig you can see Maeshowe, a Neolithic chambered cairn, previously raided and graffitied by the vikings, the Maeshowe dragon can be found scratched into the stone.

Guest Reviews

“This lovely little bothy is a perfect place to stay when visiting Orkney. The view and night sky are just stunning. So incredibly relaxing and well located for seeing the main sights of Orkney or just soaking up the surroundings. The accommodation had everything we needed for our stay and we are already planning to return as soon as possible. I cannot recommend this place enough.”

“Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful bothy. We had a wonderfully relaxing time and would happily return for a week (or a month) in the near future. Assuming you would be happy to host us again. Such a stunning spot.”
