Ormidale House is an elegant and historic 17th-century “laird’s house” set on a 22-acre private estate on the Cowal Peninsula, just 1.5 hours from Glasgow. With 13 flexible bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, the property can host up to 35 guests, making it perfect for large family gatherings, celebrations or multi-family getaways.

On the ground floor, you’ll find a large AGA-equipped kitchen, a breakfast room opening onto the terrace and garden, a grand dining hall that seats up to 24, and a classic drawing room with a baby-grand piano and open fire. Entertainment is a highlight: there’s a billiard room with a full-size table, air hockey, darts and more, two TV rooms with full Sky coverage, and a children’s playroom with a huge dolls’ house. For total relaxation, the house offers a sauna and a private seven-seater hot tub.

Outside, guests enjoy a tennis court, football pitch, a croquet lawn, a sunken trampoline, and woodland walks through ancient trees, with river pools and waterfalls to explore. There’s an outdoor table tennis table, and a wee Games Cottage with pool table, ping pong and dart boards. Wildlife is abundant—including red squirrels and deer—and the night sky is spectacular, thanks to very low light pollution.

Bedrooms are furnished with luxurious goose-down duvets, fine linen and sprung beds.

The house combines gracious, antique charm with relaxed comfort, creating a warm, memorable retreat in one of Scotland’s most beautiful settings.

A perfect location for holiday makers looking for walking, cycling, sailing, fishing, stalking, golf or just sight-seeing. Easy access to the historic towns of Dunoon, Rothesay, and Inverary. Loch Lomond within a scenic 35 minutes, convenient ferries from Colintraive to Bute, and from Portavadie to Tarbert for the Mull of Kintyre and the inner Hebrides.

Shortbreak prices are for 2 nights over a weekend or 3 nights midweek are usually approximately 75% of full week prices.
