This traditional country cottage is suited to either two couples or a family – inside there are two double box beds, a single bed, an open plan living space, a fully equipped kitchen and an electric range cooker.
Outside you will find a large woodfired hot tub with an unlimited supply of wood, a Kamado BBQ and a firepit at the ready to toast marshmallows for delicious s’mores.
The estate where Butlers cottage is situated offers a large range of walks around its 700 acres, you can also explore the estate’s historic rock gardens, woodlands, many ponds and arboretum. Also on the estate is a beautiful permaculture walled garden, which you can visit during opening hours.
What to do when staying
There is much to see and do in the beautiful county of Morayshire:
Butlers Cottage just so happens to be perfectly situated at the heart of the Scottish castle trail. So there is certainly no shortage of ancient castles to visit as well as historic fishing villages, country houses and many gardens to explore.
For those after a long walk, there are countless coastal routes and hills to climb – a particular favourite for us would have to be Knock Hill on a sunny day for the spectacular views.
Grab a treat from Portsoy ice cream and take a slow walk down to the lido, where you can dip your toes in the sea and rockpool for some sea creatures.
Visit RSPB’s Troup Head, Scotland’s largest mainland Gannet colony and is also home to razorbills, kittiwakes and Puffins.
