Bailies is a comfortable traditional holiday home with a wonderful open plan living space, large dining table, comfy sofas and a cosy woodburning stove.
Sleeping up to six guests, on the ground floor is the master bedroom, with the twin room and double bedroom upstairs. The bathroom is also upstairs with a large family bathtub, a separate shower cubicle and fluffy white towels.
In the garden, you will find a large woodfired hot tub with an unlimited supply of wood, a gas BBQ and a firepit.
Mayen Estate, where Bailies Cottage is situated offers a large range of walks around its 700 acres, you can also explore the estate’s historic rock gardens, woodlands, many ponds and arboretum. Also on the estate is a beautiful permaculture walled garden, which you can visit during opening hours.
What to do when staying
There is much to see and do in the beautiful county of Morayshire:
Bailies cottage just so happens to be perfectly situated at the heart of the Scottish castle trail and so there is certainly no shortage of ancient castles to visit as well as historic fishing villages, country houses and many gardens to explore.
For those after a long walk, there are countless coastal routes and hills to climb – a particular favourite for us would have to be Knock Hill on a sunny day for the spectacular views.
If you are the adventurous sort, Glenlivet bike trails are a worthwhile visit with trails ranging from blue to black. These are free to use, just pay for parking – if you cannot bring your own bike there are bikes available for hire at the centre.
