Escape to the romantic Thistles at Thistles on Skye a contemporary bolthole on the footprint of an old blackhouse with mesmerising views across a magical island - tranquillity soaking tub, en suites, luxury touches throughout and large picture windows which flood with natural daylight.

Thistles on Skye

Thistles is a thoroughly modern house sleeping 4 guests but equally as indulgent when booked just for two guests. This stunning property was built in the 1980's on the footprint of an old Skye blackhouse and fully refurbished in 2015 to create two luxurious bedroom suites and a wonderful open plan living/dining/kitchen area which offers the perfect social space for relaxing as a couple or with friends.

Thistles offers two elegant bedrooms with king-size beds, ample storage and hanging space for your stay, a flat screen Smart TV with Freesat, French doors and Juliet balcony to frame the beautiful elevated view over the Sound of Sleat to the Knoydart peninsula. One en-suite has a walk-in shower and a separate double ended bath tranquillity soaking tub whilst the second has a double ended bath with a rain head shower over.

Downstairs to the lower level, the open plan kitchen / living / dining area features a fully equipped Ashley Ann kitchen with granite worktops, amethyst coloured AGA range and cosy wood burning stove. There are large sliding doors and picture windows taking in breath-taking views of the garden and across the Sound of Sleat. There is also a flat screen Smart TV with Freesat and DVD player in the living room area. The owners have also provided a selection of DVD's, board games, maps, walking books and information about visitor attractions around the Isle of Skye to help you make the most of your stay.

Your adventure begins at Thistles

Skye is also known as Scotland's "Dinosaur Isle". It is positively rich in fossils from the middle Jurassic era. Neolithic structures can be found across the island. Culturally there is a strong tradition of folk music and Gaelic language. Thistles on Skye gives guests a luxurious and secluded base - they can choose complete relaxation, immerse themselves in the Gaelic culture and historical connections to Bonnie Prince Charlie or explore the many walking and climbing options: from The Cuillins to Camasunary Bay, MacLeod's Table to The Old Man of Storr.

The whole island is easily accessible from Thistles on Skye, visit local exhibitions, studios and galleries galore where you can meet tanners of sheepskins, dyers of wool, weavers, knitters, potters and artists. Take a wild swim in the crystal clear waters where the gulf stream makes the experience invigorating but a little less chilly than normal Scottish water temperatures then enjoy a warming dram as the sun sets.

A great destination for wildlife watching with the white-tailed sea eagle at the top of bird watchers' lists. Otters, seals, whales, dolphins and red deer are just some of the other impressive creatures that can be seen on and around the Isle of Skye. Home of the MacCrimmons, the ancient masters of the bagpipes, the island is also home to Clan MacDonald and Clan MacLeod both having their Clan Castles on the island. Wave a magic fairy flag, stumble upon the fairy pools, take a day trip to St. Kilda or a glimpse into the life of The Giant MacAskill at his tiny but dedicated museum.

Couples won't want to tear themselves away from this magical holiday destination with so much on offer; exploring, walking, fresh local seafood, cultural events or a romantic night in from your base at Thistles at Thistles on Skye.
